Our office will contact you if there is a signature issue, and any issue regarding the return of a Vote by Mail ballot will be notated in the 'Track My Ballot' system. In the event that the signature on your Vote by Mail ballot is missing or does not match the signature our office has on file for you in the Florida Voter Registration System, complete and return the following Signature Cure Affidavit along with a photocopy of an approved identification. The approved list of identifications are listed on the Signature Cure Affidavit.

Process for When a Vote by Mail Ballot Returns to our Office with a Signature Error
Process When a Vote by Mail Ballot Returns to our Office with a Signature Error:
1) The voter’s Vote by Mail ballot is flagged in the Florida Voter Registration System as ‘Returned with Voter Error’
a) This information, along with the reason for the error, is posted to the Vote by Mail ballot tracking website which is accessible to the voter.
b) Since this information is notated in the Florida Voter Registration System, all election workers are able to view it and assist the voter if they call into our office.
2) All voters with signature errors are mailed a letter, to their address on file in the Florida Voter Registration System, along with the Cure Affidavit.
a) There are two versions of the letter:
i) Mis-Matched or Signature Does Not Match
ii) Vote by Mail ballot was not signed b) If the voter returns the Cure Affidavit without the required identification, our office mails them a second letter notifying them of this, and contact is attempted per (3).
3) If the voter has alternate contact information, such as an email address or telephone number, available in their voter registration record, election staff attempts to contact them.
4) The Vote by Mail ballots with a signature mis-match are presented to the Canvassing Board at the next meeting on the Canvassing Board schedule.
a) They compare the Vote by Mail ballot signature, contained on the Voter’s Certificate, to the signatures our office has on file in the Florida Voter Registration System.
i) If the Canvassing Board determines the signature is a match, they vote to accept the ballot and it is tabulated.
ii) If the Canvassing Board determines that the signature is not a match, and the Cure Affidavit submission deadline has not passed, they vote to table the ballot for later review. This allows time for the voter to submit the Signature Cure Affidavit and proper identification to our office.
iii) If the Cure Affidavit deadline has passed, the Canvassing Board will make a final determination on the Vote by Mail ballot – whether to accept or reject it. Accepted ballots are then tabulated and the rejected ballots are marked as illegal per statute.
iv) Tabled Vote by Mail ballots, that were not cured, will return to the Canvassing Board on Election Day for a final determination and vote by the Canvassing Board.
