Florida is a CLOSED Primary State
Florida Law requires Voters to vote in the party with which the Voter is registered when the registration books closed for that Primary Election. (§101.021, F.S.)
NOTE: This does not include Nonpartisan races that may be on the ballot (examples: Referendums, Nonpartisan Offices, etc...). Any Voter may vote regardless of their party on any of these races should they be on a Primary ballot. The Closed Primary only extends to partisan races on the Primary ballot (Party Nominations, etc...).
Voters can now change their party online:
(Note: You will need a FL Drivers License or ID, and the last 4 (four) of your Social Security to use Online Voter Registration.)
